Most financial apps are built for people who already understand finance. For users just starting out, the experience is alienating.
OwnIt was designed around a single premise: financial confidence is earned through small wins, not information overload.
Self-Determination Theory (Deci & Ryan) identifies autonomy, competence, and relatedness as the drivers of sustained motivation. OwnIt was built to deliver on all three.
The design applied Miller’s Law to limit dashboard complexity and Hick’s Law to reduce decision points.
Research on affective computing shows that visual warmth and softness reduce perceived complexity and increase user trust.
